Due to the competitiveness and high demands of the Premier League, most clubs are out in the market searching for terrific players who will strengthen their squad to compete at the top level.

On that note, below is the top five most expensive signings made so far in the Premier League this summer.

5. Matt Targett (15 Million)

Newcastle United completed the signing of Aston Villa left-back Matt Targett for £15 million this summer. The 26-year-old joined Eddie Howe’s side on loan in January and had an impressive six months with the Magpies.

He made 16 appearances with them while leading them to a top-half Premier League finish before signing a permanent 4-year deal with the club.

4. Diego Carlos (£26 million)

Diego Carlos was signed this summer by Aston Villa from Sevilla for £26 million.

The defender will join Steven Gerrard’s side on a 4-year deal, and he is acknowledged by so many as a good signing for Aston Villa.

3. Philippe Coutinho (£18 million)

Having moved to the Premier League in the winter transfer window from Barcelona on a six-month loan, Philippe Coutinho has now signed a permanent deal to remain in the Premier League.

He signed a four-year deal with Aston Villa worth £18 million after Steven Gerrard considered him a good player for his team.

2. Erling Haaland (£51.1 Million)

Manchester City signed Erling Halaand from Borussia Dortmund for a whopping fee of £51.1 million. The Norwegian will join the Citizens on a 5-year deal, and he is the second most expensive Premier League signing this summer.

1. Darwin Nunez (£85 million)

Liverpool bought Darwin Nunez from Benfica for a club-record fee of £85 million and was unveiled on Wednesday as their new signing.

The Uruguayan striker will join the Reds on a 6-year deal, and he is the most expensive signing so far in the league.
