Despite their involvement in a tense title race, chasing down eventual winners Manchester City, Jurgen Klopp’s Liverpool side actually spent less time on top of the Premier League than rivals Manchester United, who missed out on a Champions League place after finishing sixth.

United spent 14 weeks on top of the table which, when compared to Liverpool’s 11 weeks (via ESPN), makes you wonder why our season never really picked up. The Reds were inconsistent from start to finish and results never improved following Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s dismissal in October.

It was pretty laughable to hear about Klopp winning the Manager of the Year award this week. I have always felt that the award should either go to the manager that won the league or a manager who over-performed throughout the season.
