Sironga Girls Principal Speaks After Student Jumps To Her Death At School’s Dormitory

According to Principal Jane Nyanumba, who spoke to the press yesterday, the student did not show signs of any underlying mental issue adding that the sad act caught the school unaware. She revealed that the incident occurred while the other students were out hanging their clothes.

‘’Our girl by the name Mitchell Cheptoo of form four, today morning when other girls were going to take a shower decided to jump from the second floor of the hostel,’’ Nyanumba stated.

‘’She fell down and hit her head. We took her to Nyamira Level Five where she was confirmed dead on arrival,’’ she added.

The student, Mitchell Cheptoo, fell from the second floor of the school’s dormitory building prompting other students to raise an alarm attracting the management to rush and assess the situation.

Cheptoo was later rushed to Nyamira County Hospital where she was pronounced to have passed away after attempts to save her life failed.

The medical team at the hospital confirmed that Cheptoo succumbed to severe head injuries at the facility from the impact of the fall.

Security agencies have, as a result. launched an investigation into the matter to establish what might have made her jump off the building.

According to the area Deputy County Commissioner Florence Obunga, preliminary investigations indicated that the victim used to be an introverted individual who was keen not to let anyone know what she thought of.

‘’She sustained injuries at the back of the head and we are told that she used to keep a lot of things to herself and was kind of an introverted girl,’’ Obunga added.

‘’We have also been able to peruse through her books and we have not been able to find any note that might have indicated her intention and as security officers, we will investigate the matter to find out what might have happened,’’ she revealed…CLICK HERE TO READ MORE ARTICLES>>>
