Sometimes, it may be caused by an underlying medical condition which could be neurological or degenerative.

This hand Tremor becomes worse when the person is in motion.The shaking cannot be controlled and most often, it occurs in the hands, arms, head, vocal cords, etc.

CAUSES

According to the publication by Healthline, the following are the causes of hand Tremor;

PARKINSON’S DISEASE
Tremor is an early sign of Parkinson’s disease. Most people often experience the shaking of hands in one side of their body, though it may spread to other parts with time. When the person is stressed, anxious or excited, it can also make the shaking worse.

STROKE

This often occurs when blood clots block the artery that supplies blood to the brain. This prevents oxygen and blood from reaching the brain thereby resulting in stroke. If left untreated, it causes damage to the neurological pathway.
OVERACTIVE THYROID

The Thyroid gland which is located in the neck above the collar bone produces hormones that supply the body with energy and helps to regulate metabolism. Sometimes the thyroid gland becomes over active and causes over working of the body system including shaking of hands.

CEREBELLAR DISORDER

These are group of disorders that affects the brain’s cerebellum which is the area of the brain that controls balance and coordination. When there is damage to this part of the brain, it can interrupt the pathways that control movement and coordination.

BRAIN INJURY

When there is physical injury on the brain, it can affect its functioning and cause damage which may affect movement.

SIDE EFFECTS OF MEDICATIONS

Some medications can cause damage that affects the coordination of muscles in the body. Such medications includes;

CAFFEINE OVERDOSE

Caffeine stimulates your body’s muscles, causing them to move out of sequence. Taking it excessively can cause shaky hands and other symptoms.

Other causes of shaky hands includes;

– Excess alcohol or alcohol withdrawal syndrome

– Anxiety

– Low blood sugar

– Multiple sclerosis, etc.

Though there is no cure for shaky hands, treating the underlying Medical condition can reduce the severity of the shaky hands.
