Wizkid is navigating a great bend in his music career right now, having been nominated for the 64th Grammy awards in two categories. Other Africans that were nominated for the awards include Burna boy, Angelique Kidjo, and South Africa’s Black Coffee.

Wizkid will be headlining the Friends of Amstel festival alongside local names like DBN Gogo, Mr. Jazziq, Da Capo, and Sjava.

The news of Wizkid coming to Mzansi for a performance has provoked excitement among his fans in the local population. Most of them can’t wait to see their idol as well as watch him perform at the festival.

Wizkid is known as an afrobeat musician but then he easily combines other genres as well. He’s one of the most visible musicians from Nigeria and indeed Africa.

His music career started when he founded a band among his church friends as a kid. Of all the members of the now-defunct group, he’s the only one who ended up a successful musician.
