However, there are a few things you should avoid doing to make those last few days of the month a bit easier to stomach. Periods can be painful and inconvenient, but you can take efforts to alleviate the symptoms.

The following are five things you should avoid doing during your period:

1. Wearing the same sanitary product all day long.

Wearing the same sanitary pad or tampon for more than 4 to 6 hours may prove to be a breeding ground for bacteria and will result in the formation of unpleasant odour. Additionally, doing so can result in skin rashes and TSS (Toxic Shock Syndrome).

2. Waxing or shaving.

Avoid hair removal when you’re on your period. The area is delicate, and the wax strips’ pull can irritate it, adding to your agony. Because of the flow of your menstruation, shaving can be a very messy business. If you cut yourself while shaving, it’s possible that you’ll get an infection. To lessen the chance of pain and discomfort, arrange it after a week after your menstruation.

3. Going to bed without a pad.

You might think that sleeping without a pad is more comfortable, but this isn’t true! If rashes or pain are a concern, try a different type or start using a menstrual cup, but don’t go to bed without a sanitary device to handle the flow.

4. Smoking.

We all know how bad smoking is for our health, but women who smoke during their periods are more likely to have significant pain. As a result, kicking the butt is preferable.

5. Skipping meals and eating junk food.

Skipping meals during your period isn’t a good idea because it can deplete your energy levels and make you feel unpleasant. This, however, does not imply that junk food should be substituted for regular meals. Junk food is high in salt and sugar, both of which cause bloating and discomfort.

6. Using a douche.

Douching to clean yourself up there might be really dangerous. By interfering with the vaginal’s natural barriers against bacteria, it can cause a variety of health problems, including infections and an increased risk of contracting STDs.
