Youths, some claiming to act on the council chairman’s orders, damaged canopies and chairs, forcing organisers to relocate the event.

Despite the disruption, the rally took place at a new location, attracting a sizable crowd that included past and present lawmakers, commissioners, and the governor’s representative.

Local council chairman Hope Ikiriko appeared at the event, denying involvement in the vandalism but urged supporters to maintain peace.

Meanwhile, Sokari Goodboy, leader of Governor Fubara’s supporters in Ahoada West, called on the presidency and police to investigate the “provocative action.” Evans Bipi, the governor’s representative, advised the crowd not to be swayed by rumours of suspension from the PDP or other threats.
