On Tuesday, two African powerhouses, Nigeria and Egypt, meet at the Estadio Roumde Adjia in Group D of the Africa Cup of Nations in another mouth-watering group opener.

The two sides’ rivalry stretches back to 1960 when Nigeria won a 2-1 friendly match in their first meeting, and while the Super Eagles will be chasing their fourth crown, the Pharos will be attempting to conquer Africa for the record-extending eighth time.

Sudan and Guinea-Bissau kick off their Africa Cup of Nations campaign on Tuesday when they meet at the Stade Roumde Adjia in Group D.

Both teams have been drawn in Group D alongside Nigeria and Egypt and will be looking for an early victory to set the tone for their remaining group games against the two African powers.

On Tuesday, reigning African Cup of Nations winners Algeria faces Sierra Leone at the Japoma Stadium in the first match of their championship defense.

In this year’s tournament, the teams were placed in Group E alongside Ivory Coast and Equatorial Guinea.

Algeria completed their preparations for the AFCON with a 3-0 win over Ghana at the Education City Stadium on Wednesday.
