Anukwara explained that Bobrisky’s medical examination revealed the presence of both male and female sex organs, which influenced the decision to house him separately.
According to a report by the Daily Post on Tuesday, this information came to light during an investigative hearing at Kirikiri Correctional Centre.
The House of Representatives committee was looking into the circumstances surrounding Bobrisky’s imprisonment, following allegations that he did not serve his full jail term inside the prison. Bobrisky had been sentenced to six months in prison by a Lagos court for naira mutilation.
Doubts about his time in custody surfaced after a leaked audio conversation, shared by social media personality Martins Ortse, aka VeryDarkMan. In the recording, Bobrisky allegedly claimed that he did not serve time in prison but stayed in a lodge, allegedly arranged through the influence of a “godfather.”
However, the investigative panel found no evidence to support the claim that Bobrisky was held outside the prison, contradicting the rumors circulating online.
During the hearing, Anukwara gave a detailed account of Bobrisky’s intake at the prison. He said, “I am Emby Anukwara, Deputy Comptroller of Corrections and officer in charge of Medium when Bobrisky was brought in here. On April 12, 2024, Bobrisky was brought here at about 10:30 pm, and at that time, we could not do the necessary documentation.”
Anukwara further explained that due to the ambiguity surrounding Bobrisky’s gender, the prison authorities took precautionary steps. While awaiting further assessment, Bobrisky was placed in the P-ward, Room 2.
