Rear Admiral Daniel Hagari, an IDF spokesperson, mentioned that Israel had conducted precise airstrikes targeting key financial strongholds of the terrorist group.
One major target was a vault containing tens of millions of dollars in cash and gold, though it was not confirmed whether the funds were entirely destroyed. He further identified another bunker, located beneath Al-Sahel Hospital, which was said to hold at least half a billion dollars in gold and cash.
Despite the facilityโs importance to Hezbollah, Hagari stressed that Israel had no intention of bombing the hospital, stating that their focus was solely on Hezbollah, not Lebanon.
The IDF also targeted locations tied to Al-Qard Al-Hassan, a financial institution linked to Hezbollah and under U.S. sanctions, which Israel claims is used to finance terrorist activities. The strikes were part of an ongoing effort that has targeted around 300 Hezbollah sites in Lebanon.
Al-Qard Al-Hassan has over 30 branches across the country, primarily in Hezbollah strongholds. Israel accused Hezbollah of exploiting Lebanon’s financial crisis to fund its operations, including constructing factories in various countries.
The IDF has also launched attacks on Hezbollah operatives and infrastructure in Syria and Lebanon, following increased tensions after the October 7 assault by Hamas.
Since the beginning of the conflict, the IDF estimates that nearly 2,000 Hezbollah operatives have been killed, along with hundreds of other casualties in Lebanon.
