The Danish midfielder has returned to working with his team-mates following a month-long spell on the sidelines.

Eriksen has made 15 appearances so far this season, scoring once – against Nottingham Forest in August – but he hasn’t featured since the 1-0 home win over Luton Town on Saturday 11 November.

He departed the field after 40 minutes of our meeting with the Hatters and subsequently missed Denmark’s final Euro 2024 qualifiers with Slovenia and Northern Ireland.

Eriksen was soon diagnosed with a knee issue, with the original estimate suggesting he would be out until the middle of December.

Our no.14 was sidelined for league games against Everton, Newcastle United, Chelsea, Bournemouth and Liverpool. He also missed two Champions League fixtures – the 3-3 draw with Galatasaray in Istanbul and our 1-0 home defeat to Bayern Munich.

Eriksen was involved in this morning’s session, following Sunday’s goalless draw at Anfield, where Luke Shaw and Marcus Rashford returned to the side after injury and illness respectively.
