These arteries are very important blood vessels that deliver oxygen-rich blood from the heart to other tissues in the body, including the brain and the heart.

Besides the flavour spicy foods provide, studies have found that natural spices can fight inflammation and reduce the damage to our body’s cells including the cells of the arteries and heart. These natural spices can also be used in place of artificial food seasonings that mostly contain compounds that can cause inflammation and increase the risk of chronic diseases, including heart attack.

Regular consumption of the following spices in our foods can prevent and reduce plaque buildup, prevent heart attack and boost the overall health in our 60s.

1. Cinnamon

Cayenne pepper contains capsaicin which controls the blood flow by lowering blood pressure and stimulating the release of nitric acids and other vasodilators that expand blood vessels allowing easy flow of blood.

5. Holy Basil

Holy basil contains antioxidant properties that can dilate and contract the blood vessels, removing plaque for them. It can also lower the risk of high cholesterol and heart attack by preventing the formation of clots in the arteries with its eugenol properties.

6. Garlic

Garlic contains antibacterial, antifungal, antimicrobial, and antioxidants properties that can unclog arteries by reducing cholesterol and plaque buildup in the arteries as well as preventing heart disease by lowering blood pressure and preventing cell damage to the heart.
