Most men and women are fond of behaving rashly without knowing the consequences of what they do. You might be feeling that you are doing the right thing, or behaving in your best way without knowing how much it could destroy your relationship.

It’s not all about being in a relationship with the person you love, but knowing how to maintain that relationship and keep it going. You ought to desist from certain habits or behaviors when you are in a relationship.

However, in this article, I will be talking about six habits that could hurt your relationship;

1. Being overprotective: When a person is being overprotective, it shows that he or she lacks trust. Being overprotective arises from feeling insecure, because it’s only an insecure partner that behaves that way.

Not everyone wants to be with an extremely overprotective person. Being overprotective has affected or would I say destroyed a lot of people’s relationships.

2. Criticism; Criticism in a relationship is a behavior that can be toxic to the couple. Most people are fond of criticizing their partner and this is very wrong.

This habit is common among both men and women. Criticism is the beginning of downfall in most relationships. It’s very wrong to always criticize your partner over every little thing they do, and remind them of their past mistakes. Being too critical in a relationship erodes positive feelings over time and leads to other problematic behaviors that can destroy the connection between partners.

3. Comparison; Most people in a relationship today, are fond of the habit of constantly comparing their relationship or partner to others which is very wrong. When you compare your partner, it makes them feel insecure about themselves.

It’s okay to correct your partner and tell them about their mistakes or wrongdoing, rather than comparing them with others and telling them how well others are doing in their relationships or what others do for their partners, it’s wrong. This is like underrating your partner. Doing this can push your partner into doing what they don’t want to do. This habit can hurt your relationship.

4. Nagging; This habit is majorly common among most ladies.

Nagging can destroy your relationship. No one wants to be with a person who is extremely nagging all the time. A person who nags always looks for a way to cause problems at every slightest opportunity. Such a person never agrees, understand or wants to make peace.

5. Dishonesty; Another thing that may hurt your relationship is dishonesty.

This is one of the habits you have to desist from when you are in a relationship. What’s the point of being dishonest or always telling lies to the person you claim to love. If you want a peaceful, genuine, and long-lasting relationship, you have to be honest and drop the habit of dishonesty.
