The dilemma at Old Trafford is that the 18-year-old suffered an injury that will keep him out of action for weeks and now, they need to find a replacement for their new signing.

The name of Matthijs de Ligt has been linked with Manchester United for some time, especially after the European Championships.

As per today’s version of Bild, the headline states “De Ligt is back! Just for how long?.

The German source has confirmed that the Dutch international has returned but his future with Bayern Munich is still unclear.

The 24-year-old star was a key member of the Bavarian side that nearly knocked Real Madrid in the semi finals of the UEFA Champions League last season.

However, he did not feature for even a single minute for the Netherlands at the Euros.

So, De Ligt is well rested and has arrived back after a three week break, but after agreeing a deal with Manchester United.

Bild claim Bayern want to sell the former Juventus central defender, who has already agreed personal terms with the Old Trafford outfit.

However, Man Utd have not yet offered the £42.6m (50 million euros) fee required to get the deal over the line this summer.
