Simply put, frequent urination is when one makes a trip to the restroom many times throughout a 24-hour period. This condition is medically called nocturia.

What then can cause frequent urination? Apart from drinking heavily or being pregnant, frequent urination can also be related to other health issues that aren’t normal way of life.

Some of these underlying illnesses are stated below:

1. Prostrate diseases:

When the Prostrate glands that are saddled with the responsibility of secreting seminal fluids are enlarged, it is said that prostrate disease has set in.

Urinating frequently, is one of the common signs of Prostrate diseases. Men above the age of 50 years are mostly prone to this disease.

Therefore, men are advised to eat plenty of natural foods, and avoid things like smoking, sugary foods, caffeinated and carbonated drinks.

2. Overactive bladder:

This is one of the diseases associated with frequent urination. When one has an overactive bladder, there is always that urge to pass out liquid.

Overactive bladder can be caused by weak muscles, infection, overweight, alcohol etc.

We are advised to reduce the intake of foods like; alcohol, spicy and acidic foods etc, that can harm our health.

3. Kidney disease:

Kidney disease comes with the urge to urinate often. It causes bacteria to travel round the kidney, thereby causing harm to the body, that could be life threatening, if not properly handled.

There is every need to stay away from foods that can harm the vital organs like; smoking, excess alcohol, fried foods etc.

The list is not limited to this, there are other illnesses that are associated with frequent urination.
