Melaye asserted that Wike, who presents himself as a champion for Southern Nigeria’s interests, was privately seeking support during the selection process. “I have all the records, and I’ve printed them out. I’m waiting for him,” Melaye stated in a recent interview with Symfoni TV. He revealed that Wike called him 19 times within two hours, desperately asking for help to convince Atiku to choose him as his running mate.
The senator emphasized the stark contrast between Wike’s public persona and his private actions. “Wike is a pretentious character; he is a liar, and he has no integrity,” Melaye declared. He also alleged that Wike had made extravagant promises in his bid for the nomination.
Additionally, Melaye disclosed that Wike went to the extent of waiting at the airport and repeatedly calling him. “I have a video where he spent hours calling me; he called me ‘my brother and friend.’ I have witnesses,” he added.
