Addressing thousands of Kenya at Uhuru Gardens, the politician recalled the misery he went through before winning the election. Gachagua said that people he considered friends abandoned him during his time of need, and only his family had his back.
โTake care of your families. They are the only people you can rely on. Friends abandoned us, and business associates betrayed us. But family will always be there,” he said. His words seemingly evoked painful memories for his wife, Pastor Dorcas, as she was seen wiping away tears.

Gachaguaโs words were proven true as his former political associates sent him home, but his family stood by him. During Gachaguaโs Senate appearance to defend himself, one of his sons was by his side. The politician, dressed in a black suit, was captured being accompanied by his son, who looked dapper in a fitting suit.
