Speaking on Citizen TV’s show, Kalonzo dismissed claims that the Adani Group, led by billionaire Gautam Adani, financed their campaign. He clarified that he did not know Adani or any connection to the group, stating that he had never met anyone from the company.

Kalonzo emphasized that as a running mate, he was not privy to the details of Odinga’s campaign finances. He explained that while a presidential ticket may be considered unified legally, the candidates are not obligated to disclose their funding sources to each other.

He compared his situation to Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua, who might also be unaware of how President William Ruto funded his campaign.

Addressing allegations made by Makueni Senator Dan Maanzo, who claimed that the Adani Group had financed both Odinga and Ruto, Kalonzo urged Maanzo to apologize to Odinga. He reiterated that Odinga remains the Wiper party leader and that such accusations were unfounded.

In response to earlier criticisms, Odinga defended the Adani Group’s investments in Kenya, highlighting his personal interactions with the company during his tenure as Prime Minister.

He recalled being introduced to Adani by Narendra Modi, then Chief Minister of Gujarat, and witnessing the group’s impressive infrastructural projects, including transforming a swamp into a central industrial hub and modernizing a collapsing airport in Mumbai.

Kalonzo concluded by reaffirming his focus during the 2012 campaign was on securing Odingaโ€™s victory, trusting his ability to raise the necessary campaign fundsโ€ฆCLICK HERE TO READ MORE ARTICLES>>>
