The Ethics and Anti-Corruption Commission (EACC) officers arrested Police Constable Christine Nyokabi Macharia on Monday.

EACC Spokesperson Eric Ngumbi confirmed the incident, saying that Nyokabi was detained at Kilimani Police Station and presented at EACC Integrity Centre Police Station for processing on Tuesday.

Since then, authorities have interrogated the suspect and recorded a statement while they await arraignment.

Also, the detectives from the Ethics and Anti-Corruption Commission (EACC) have arrested an ICT officer working at the Cooperative University of Kenya for demanding a Ksh.50,000 bribe from a student to correct an error in the examination results as displayed in the university portal.

Evans Matiro Watenya, the suspect, allegedly demanded the aforementioned amount from the female student after she enquired about the mysterious alteration of her examination results from Second Class Honours, Upper Division, to Lower Division in the portal, two months before her December graduation.

The suspect then informed the student that the only way to correct the error was ‘if she parted with Ksh.50,000 as tea,’ according to EACC Spokesperson Eric Ngumbi, who confirmed the arrest.

The complainant managed to raise only Ksh.30,000 but then reported the matter to the commission after she was unable to raise the rest.
