The call came after Senate President Godswill Akpabio condemned the incident, demanding a thorough investigation and appropriate sanctions against Libya.
Senator Ismaila Kawu, during a personal explanation, raised concerns about the treatment of the Super Eagles by Libyan authorities and the countryโs football federation. He expressed regret that the incident not only endangered the lives of the players but also put the entire delegation at risk.
Kawu urged the Federal Government, through the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, to highlight the potential diplomatic consequences of Libyaโs actions.
Earlier, in a statement released by his Special Adviser on Media and Publicity, Hon. Eseme Eyiboh, Akpabio denounced the actions of the Libyan officials, describing them as a โstark reminder of the disregard for human dignity and respect for international norms.โ
