Zidane, considered one of the greatest midfielders of his era, enjoyed a career marked by 13 major titles with clubs including Bordeaux, Juventus and Real Madrid. On the international scene, he won the World Cup with France in 1998.

After retiring in 2006, Zidane became manager of Real Madrid ten years later, winning two La Liga titles and three consecutive Champions Leagues. He briefly left the position in 2018 before returning to win another championship in 2020. At that time, FC Barcelona, โ€‹โ€‹with Lionel Messi as captain, represented one of Real Madrid’s main rivals.

When he managed the Madrid club, five-time Ballon d’Or winner Ronaldo was his star player and Messi’s rival. However, despite his admiration for Ronaldo, Zidane reserved his biggest compliment for Messi during a video made last year with Adidas, where the two legends spoke about their careers.

Zidane called Messi a ‘magician’: โ€œNo, there is only one word: magicโ€

he said. He added that he had admired Messi for a long time and felt a connection watching him play.

โ€œThatโ€™s what people want to see in football, there are only a few players like him. Actually, just one. ยป

In 2018, Zidane was also asked about Ronaldo and said his performances and statistics spoke for themselves, while claiming no player had achieved what the Portuguese had achieved.

Messi, for his part, has scored 672 goals in 778 games for FC Barcelona, โ€‹โ€‹while Ronaldo has scored 450 in 438 games for Real Madrid. Since then, both players have left Europe, Messi joining Inter Miami in MLS and Ronaldo, Al Nassr in Saudi Arabiaโ€ฆCLICK HERE TO READ MORE ARTICLES>>>
