The nickname T-Pain, used on social media, emanated from the suffering, hardship and poor government policies under President Tinubu.

Reports indicate that the nickname for President Tinubu came from a satirical remix of T-Painโ€™s track โ€˜Buy U A Drankโ€™ by Nigerian satirist Bello Galadanci, best known by his stage name Dan Bello.

โ€˜Buy U A Drankโ€™ was released in 2007 by American singer and songwriter Faheem Rashad Najm, known professionally as T-Pain.

Unlike the original song, Dan Belloโ€™s remix, titled โ€˜Nigerians, I Go Make You Poor,โ€™ tells of the economic hardship caused by the policies of President Tinubuโ€™s administration, including fuel subsidy removal and the flotation of the naira, among other issues.

The lyrics are as follows: โ€˜I go make you poor, all your fuel, I go make am mine. Iโ€™m in plane, youโ€™re in pain, Wetin you go do, na to just complain.โ€™

The former Vice President also joined in the trend when he called Tinubu โ€˜T-Painโ€™ in a statement shared on his social media page.

Atiku lamented the silence of President Tinubu and his government, unperturbed by the hardships and sufferings of the masses.

In response, the President cautioned Nigerians to stop calling Tinubu T-Pain, saying it is a stain on his reputation.

However, Nigerians on social media challenged the Presidency, stressing that they will continue to call the President more nicknames if he doesnโ€™t restore the economyโ€ฆCLICK HERE TO READ MORE ARTICLES>>>ย
