Kalonzo specifically took issue with the latest agreement between Kenya Electricity Transmission Company (KETRACO) and Adani, questioning the rush with which the deal was finalized.

He pledged that the opposition would challenge the agreement in court, citing concerns over transparency and the terms of the 30-year energy contract.

Kalonzo Musyoka addressed the media, highlighting the widespread public resistance to the deal. โ€œEven with overwhelming public opposition, the government went ahead and signed a Ksh 95 billion energy deal with KETRACO and Adani. This will not go unchallenged,โ€ he declared.

The opposition has criticized the government for what they perceive as an opaque tendering process involving the Indian conglomerate.

Musyoka further assured Kenyans that they would not allow the country’s resources to be โ€œauctionedโ€ and vowed to challenge the deal in parliament, court, and through public demonstrations.

The opposition also dismissed the recent impeachment proceedings against Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua as a diversionary tactic aimed at shifting focus away from the multi-billion-shilling deals.

โ€œThe issue here is not Gachagua,โ€ Musyoka asserted. โ€œThis parliament lacks the moral authority to adjudicate on such matters of national importance, having already been impeached by Kenyans on June 25th.โ€

In their statement, the opposition accused the National Assembly of being compromised and failing to prioritize critical national issues, focusing instead on political processes.

Musyoka also criticized the public participation process surrounding the parliamentary impeachment debate, calling it a โ€œreferendum on William Ruto himself,โ€ and questioned whether the true sentiments of Kenyans were accurately recordedโ€ฆCLICK HERE TO READ MORE ARTICLES>>>
