In a statement on Monday, October 14, NTSA said that one of the most frequent mistakes that motor vehicle owners make is uploading and submitting logbooks belonging to different vehicles making it hard for the authority to authenticate ownership
NTSA further says that some motorists submit defaced or illegible logbooks that fail to authenticate the vehicle details against the system.
In addition, the authority disclosed that some owners make the mistake of submitting a copy of a logbook instead of a scan-colored copy (PDF) of the original logbook.
NTSA further called out motor vehicle owners who submit different documents like payment invoices, blank papers, and newspaper cuttings instead of a scan-colored copy (PDF) of the original logbook.
Another mistake that the authority has noted during the transfer of vehicle ownership is the capturing of wrong buyer details instead of inputting the new ownerโs accurate information. This leads to the vehicle being transferred to other people.
Additionally, some applicants enter their own details (current owner) rather than the new buyerโs information.
NTSA urged those seeking ownership transfer services to access them via the eCitizen platform, adding that owners should counter-check all documents and information before submitting.
