Today Thursday, there was a viral document on social media doing rounds with claims that the embattled second in command had finally made a decision to leave office over intensified impeachment pressure.

Both the office of the President and that of the deputy, when reached for a comment on the same, clarified that there was no such thing as of now and described the stepping down letter as fake.

The said letter titled as โ€˜The People of Kenyaโ€™ claimed in it that Mr. Gachagua, for the sake of the country, had decided to pen an immediate resignation letter.

โ€œI believe it is in the best interest of both my conscience and the people I serve.โ€ The document read in part before it was flagged fake and discredited for lacking the Deputy Presidentโ€™s official signature and the necessary official stamps.

In case of any resignation, the correct channel, according to the office of the deputy president, would be to hand it over to the President for consideration.

The office further questioned the criteria used to circulate the purported resignation letter from the deputy head of State.

Otherwise, the DPโ€™s team noted that, their boss Rigathi Gachgua, was still determined to counter any accusations leveled against him upto the Supreme Court level.

Lawyers Paul Muite and Fred Ngatia, the lead counsel in the matter, on Wednesday October 9, filed their defense aimed at blocking the removal of their client from office.

They questioned the hasty manner in which the public participation was conducted and the outrageous accusations titled โ€˜11 chargesโ€™ against their client.

Tomorrow on Friday, Chief Justice Martha Koome will be making a decision on whether a three-judge bench will be the one to look into the case and make a determinationโ€ฆCLICK HERE TO READ MORE ARTICLES>>>ย
