On Wednesday, October 9, the Senate received the National Assembly’s resolution on the impeachment of Gachagua as the deputy president of the Republic of Kenya.

The vote exceeded the two-thirds threshold required by law, leading National Assembly Speaker Moses Wetang’ula to announce that the resolution would be sent to the Senate for a trial.

Setting the stage for the trial at the Senate, National Assembly Clerk Samuel Njoroge forwarded the MP’s resolutions, including evidence, to the Senate.

“Attached herewith, please find a Message in respect of the Resolution of the National Assembly on its approval of a Special Motion on the Removal from Office, by Impeachment, of Rigathi Gachagua, EGH, Deputy President of the Republic of Kenya. Enclosed with the Message, please find copies of the following…,” the communication by Clerk Samuel Njoroge reads.

The letter seen by TUKO.co.ke, indicates the communication was written immediately after the MPs concluded the voting on Gachagua’s ouster.
