The National Assembly on Tuesday released the results of the public participation exercise carried out countrywide over the ongoing impeachment against Deputy President Rigathi Gachaua. The statistics showed that Starehe Constituency recorded 1,498 respondents out of which 1,060 opposed the impeachment representing 70.7 percent while 386 of them representing 25.77 percent supported it.

In Embakasi EastConstituency led by MP Babu Owino, 55.54 percent of the residents opposed the impeachment calls while 41.6 percent of those who submitted their views supported the motion.

61.8 percent of residents from the Kasarani Constituency opposed the impeachment grounds leveled against Gachagua even as 33 percent supported the calls for the impeachment.

In Embakasi Central, 75.6 percent of the residents also showed support for the second in command while 21.9 percent of their fellows maintained that he had to face his accusations.

In Embakasi North Constituency represented by one of Gachaguaโ€™s vocal allies, James Gakuya, 81.2 percent stood with the Deputy President as 16 percent asserted that they supported the claims leveled against him.

73.3 percent of the residents of Embakasi South in Nairobi County also objected to the impeachment process while 21.6 percent supported it, almost the same percentage as their counterparts in Roysambu Constituency where another 72.5 supported it versus 26 percent who opposed.

In Ruaraka Constituency, 58.8 percent of the residents told the National Assembly that theyย did not support the accusationsย as another 40.2 per cent maintained that he had to face his moment of fate with the lawmakers.

Other Nairobi constituencies including Embakasi West, Dagoretti North, Dagoretti South, Kibra, Mathare, Westlands, Langata, Makadara, and Kamukunji, however, recorded more numbers in support of the impeachment vis a vis those who defended the DP

Gachagua’s impeachment hearing kicked off on Tuesday and he appeared before the National Assembly in the evening to respond to the allegations.
