Lawyer and activist Morara Kebaso was on Friday, October 4, attacked shortly after arriving at the Bomas of Kenya where Public Participation for Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua’s impeachment is happening.

In the video seen by Nairobi Leo, a seemingly agitated Kebaso could be seen seated in the hall shortly before a group of men started attacking him.

A woman speaking on the microphone could be heard calling for people to settle down while accusing the lawyer of disrupting the public participation exercise.

“Stop fighting… Morara, you cannot come to destroy our meeting,” the woman could be heard yelling.

Kebaso was forced to run out of the hall after attendees of the meeting started throwing chairs and other objects in his direction.

Shortly, after the chaos at Bomas, Kebaso disclosed that he had been injured in the melee and was heading to hospital.

“I was barred from entering Bomas at the gate. When I finally got in, I was denied the mic at Bomas floor. Chaos erupted. I am hurt and headed to hospital. I live to speak another day,” Kebaso said.

Elsewhere, chaos erupted in some parts of Nyeri County as public participation in the impeachment motion against Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua kicked off across the country.

In photos and videos seen by Nairobileo.co.ke on Friday morning, October 4, a section of the residents took to the streets to protest against the motion.

The residents blocked a section of a road by lighting bonfires, while others marched, chanting and blowing vuvuzelas in opposition to the removal from office by impeachment.

In some public participation centres in the county, members of the public were heard chanting ‘no Rigathi, no Ruto’ during the exercise.

Anti-riot police officers were deployed to the scene to contain the situation even as the residents continued with the protestsโ€ฆCLICK HERE TO READ MORE ARTICLES>>>
