Robert Murdock, attorney for the father at Clark County District Court, said: โMy client had more tears than I’ve ever seen someone shed, because what he thought was his daughter โ isnโtโ.
8NewsNowย reported the couple chose an Arizona-based egg to combine with the fatherโs sperm, but DNA results years later showed the implanted embryo was from Las Vegas. It remains unknown what happened to the original embryo, or whether it was implanted into another woman, the lawsuit alleges.
Murdock added: โThe real point of this is finding out what happened, why and hopefully making sure that this is the only mistake out there.
โBecause again, where did that embryo go? Was that implanted in someone else?โ
The lawyer clarified the father still plans to adopt the teenager with her birth certificate being altered. โIn this case, the biological child is not his, so as a result, he has to go adopt her,โ said Murdock.
The lawsuit also cites malpractice and negligence and demands a jury deliberate on any potential damages and culpability. A court date has not yet been set.
