However, some members of the political class are advocating for an extension to seven years, a proposal that has sparked discontent among many Kenyans.

In a surprising twist, Mathenge has expressed his support for extending the term to seven years but with a significant caveat — eliminating the option for a second term.

“I support the extension of the presidential term limit from five years to seven. Then we ban running for second terms. You do what you can do within the seven years and go home.
