The three-term ODM MP is positioning himself as a leader capable of addressing Nairobiโ€™s growing challenges and delivering inclusive governance.

โ€œI wanted to be the governor of Nairobi in 2022 but was told to wait. This time, nobody will tell us to wait,โ€ he stated.

Wanyonyi emphasised that his ambition for Nairobiโ€™s top job is stronger than ever.

โ€œMy journey to City Hall 2027 is still on. I expect Westlands to give me 100 per cent of the vote,โ€ he stated, underscoring his deep connection with his constituency and his expectation of full support.

During the 2022 elections, Wanyonyi shelved his ambition to run for the Nairobi gubernatorial seat after Azimio la Umoja โ€“ One Kenya Coalitionโ€™s top leadership handpicked Polycarp Igathe to carry the outfitโ€™s flag in the contest.

Speaking at a social event in his constituency, the Westlands MP made it clear that his time has come.

โ€œThey cannot stop an idea whose time has come,โ€ he said.

Wanyonyi said his determination is fuelled by a conviction that Nairobiโ€™s leadership needs a visionary approach, adding that he believes that no one else is better suited for the role.

โ€œI have so many enemies, including in my party, who keep saying that I will not be the governor of Nairobi. But this time, if they stand in our way, we will bypass them,โ€ he stated.

The Westlands MP added that his governorship will be built on a vision of inclusive development, particularly addressing the needs of youth and small business owners.
