Gachagua’s tribal politics threaten national unity What else you need to know about Gachagua’s planned  impeachment

Speaking at St. John Wamunyu Catholic Church in Mwala Constituency on Sunday, September 29, National Assembly Speaker Moses Wetang’ula pledged his support for the impeachment motion against Gachagua.

Wetang’ula emphasised that anyone threatening the nation’s peace should be held accountable, regardless of status.

“If anyone is jeopardising our country’s peace, they should be impeached. This applies to me, the deputy president, or any other leader because we seek peace,” he declared.

Additionally, the speaker urged the congregation to unite to address the country’s challenges, suggesting they find ways to source food from regions experiencing heavy rainfall to combat hunger.

His remarks come in the wake of serious allegations against Gachagua, including abuse of office, fostering tribalism, corruption, and making threats against President William Ruto.

Meanwhile, the United Democratic Alliance Party national treasurer Japheth Nyakundi also called for the  replacement of the deputy president.

Nyakundi contended that the Deputy President has consistently failed to engage Kenyans from regions beyond Mt. Kenya.

He argued that Gachagua’s purported tribal politics pose a significant threat to national unity, as the presidency should represent a unifying force for the entire country.
