A senior land official based in Kiambu County has been arrested by the Ethics and Anti-Corruption Commission.

After 14 hours in the custody of detectives, the official was taken to the EACC Integrity Centre Police Station Thursday evening where he recorded a statement.

EACC Spokesperson Eric Ngumbi said the arrested official is among 42 others being pursued by the commission about irregular alienation of Sh1.3 billion land belonging to the Agricultural Development Corporation (ADC) in Kitale.

The Kitale land measures 667 acres.

“The Commission encourages members of the public with information regarding fraudulent dealings by any Land Registrar or other official to share it with the Commission for processing and action,” Ngumbi said,

“This will strengthen the ongoing interventions to mitigate the challenge of corruption and enhance service delivery in land administration.”

Ngumbi said the Commission conducted a successful investigative operation targeting eight (8) individuals including senior land officials and private individuals in relation to the alleged fraudulent acquisition of the ADC land.
