Gachagua currently risks being deposed as lawmakers gang up to actualise an impeachment against him.

Kuria, who currently serves as a senior advisor in President William Ruto’s Council of Economic Advisors, says had Gachagua heeded his advice, he would not be in the distressing position he currently is.

Gachagua’s goose started getting cooked three months ago when he was accused of dwelling in Mt Kenya to drive politics believed to border on ethnicity and regionalism.

What Moses Kuria told Gachagua in June

At the time, the president joined other leaders across the political divide in castigating the deputy president, whom they asked to shun divisive political rhetoric and shift the focus on delivering his mandate.

In a 10-point dispatch addressed to Gachagua, Kuria pointed out that the deputy president had branched off from the government agenda to partake in full-time politicking.

“Whereas all the rest of us are busy in our dockets, you do zero work in terms of the priorities of the President and the government. The President works 24 by 7 alone yet you are so idle that you spend entire day politicking or filling out tender forms. I wonder how you can run a government, yet you know absolutely nothing of how government operates,” Kuria told Gachagua in the dispatch.

Kuria seemed to invite Gachagua to a self-introspection to avert a crisis that might hurt his (DP’s) political career.

He now says Gachagua turned a deaf ear on the counsel, hence his current tribulations.

“On June 13, three months and ten days ago, I posted this letter. I wish someone listened to me. ‘I wish I knew’ always comes later,” tweeted Kuria.

In the meantime, the plot to oust Gachagua is said to be in the works, with those backing it racing against time to solidify the charges against him.

The deputy president is accused of, among other things, constitutional violations, legal breaches, gross misconduct, and abuse of office.

Recently, Gachagua explicitly spoke about the humiliations meted out to him within the presidency.

He implicated operatives at State House Nairobi whom he accused of standing in his way to deliver on his mandate.

Why Gachagua is angry at Ruto

The deputy president decried being despised by Cabinet secretaries and other juniors who have exploded into an- all-out war against him.

He seemed to lay the blame on Ruto, implying that the latter had stepped back to see him face trouble.

In an appeal to the president, Gachagua reminded him of the vow he made when they got into office after the 2022 vote.

He recalled that Ruto promised not to allow denigration on him (Gachagua), as was the case during former president Uhuru Kenyatta’s tenure when the current president was humiliated.

With the current goings-on, Gachagua seemed wary of the troubles surrounding his tenure in office, pleading with the president not to allow his impeachment.

He appreciated having gone through the worst already and that he had had enough of it…CLICK HERE TO READ MORE ARTICLES>>>
