Speaking at Mweiga Stadium in Nyeri during a service for the 21 pupils who perished at the Hillside Endarasha Academy fire tragedy, Kalonzo said Kenya is going through political moments which are weighty.

“There is political tension in this country. Let us pray for the country,” he urged.

“As we bury these children, we have a nation to mould together.”

Kalonzo made the remarks as reports of a planned impeachment of Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua gained momentum.

Also present at the service were Gachagua, Nyeri governor Kahiga Mutahi, DAP-K leader Eugene Wamalwa and a host of MPs and MCAs.

Gachagua is facing arguably his toughest test yet since assuming office as Kenya Kwanza appears determined to eject him from office.

The DP went on television last Friday to subtly urge the President to ‘get his house in order’.

As the highest-ranking leader from the Mt. Kenya region, Gachagua warned the president against taking for granted the region’s overwhelming support in the 2022 election.

Independence party Kanu also weighed in on the matter saying if an impeachment motion is to be tabled, it should be aimed at both the President and his deputy…CLICK HERE TO READ MORE ARTICLES>>>
